Monti West Black Cattle is located in Eastern Iowa and offers show steers and heifers and replacement females of all breeds and types. We offer a group of calves each fall for sale by pasture bid-off and private treaty.

Monti West Black Cattle is a 3rd generation cattle and row-crop operation located in Northeast Iowa. The family farm, purchased in 1940, previously housed Western-origin feeder cattle and a progressive corn and soybean operation. The farm ground is now primarily planted corn-on-corn.
The current cow herd was established in 1988 with two show heifers, and has grown to a small but elite group of maternally bred females backed by the industry’s top genetics. We strive to raise functional females that will perform in the show ring and in production.

When Rylee and Asher started their show careers, we were given a bit of advice from a veteran show dad and respected Maine-Anjou breeder in Iowa. He told us it wasn't as important to always select heifers based on recent trends, but to select females that would work for our program and that we'd want to see in the pasture for years to come.
We've tried to stick to that concept each year, and it has resulted in a pretty awesome group of foundation females. We're proud of the set put together for this year's online sale and look forward to sharing them soon!
